Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Founded in 1887, the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a public Corporation, a consultative and collaborative body liaising with the Administrations, which represents, promotes and defends the general interests of companies in the region. All legal or physical entities, either national or foreign, performing mercantile, commercial, industrial or service-related activities in the Madrid autonomous region belong to the Chamber.

The Chamber collaborates actively with more then 370,000 Madrid based companies, covering various needs, such as advice for the creation and development of businesses, promoting exports from the region, training human capital, and developing initiatives to extend the culture of quality and innovation so that SMEs in the Madrid Region can tap the opportunities afforded by e-commerce.

The Chamber promotes the internationalisation of the Madrid economy with various initiatives, from the most basic levels, such as the PIPE 2000 Plan, under which small and medium-sized enterprises receive tailored assistance to help make their first forays into other markets, adapt their management systems, locate suppliers and buyers, etc, all at a low cost for subscribing SMEs. The ECR scheme is ideally complementary to the PIPE plan and they already have networks established which can be used for dissemination of EURICA outcomes.

Their role will include implementation of the Audit Scheme in Spain, setting-up of auditors training workshops, train 5 auditors and audit 10 SMEs followed by validation and dissemination of the results with the objective of furthering the awareness among Spanish SMEs of the need for a more focussed approach to communication with trading partners in Europe in order to consolidate trade relationships.
